Dr. George M. Palatianos practices Cardiac Surgery since 1984, when he completed his specialty training at the University of Miami / Jackson memorial Hospital, in Miami, Florida, USA. He has performed more than 10,000 operations and contributed to the training of more than 30 new Surgeons. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Chest Physicians, and member of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery, the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, and the Southern Thoracic Surgical Association. He is certified by the American Board of of Thoracic Surgery and the European Board of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery.

Dr. Palatianos' surgical experience includes: 

  • Coronary artery bypass surgery (with or without extracorporeal circulation, use of arterial grafts)
  • Valve surgery (repair / replacement of mitral, aortic, tricuspid valves)
  • Aortic aneurysm repair
  • Atrial fibrillation ablation surgery
  • Rescection of myxomas, pericardiectomy etc. 

The fields of his scientific interest include: 

  • Intraoperative myocardial preservation
  • Leukocyte-depleted blood cardiolpegia
  • Heart valves
  • Minimally invasive surgery
  • Platelets
  • Aortic aneurysms  

Dr. Palatianos served at the Division of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery of the University of Miami as a Faculty member from 1984 to 1993, and was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor of Surgery. He resigned this post, in order to fill the position of Chief of Cardiac Surgery Department at the Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center in Athens, Greece, where he served for 20 years. Since September 2013, he is in private practice and collaborates with Athens Euroclinic, a 159-bed private Hospital in Athens, Greece.
